“Things Americans say to West Indians”
*DWL!!!*
I’ve gotten most of those lol esp the dancing comment…
The most common ones that I receive are:
“You said you were from the the Caribbean, but you’re not black. Are you really from there?”
“Can you teach me how to dutty wine?”
“Trinidad, that’s in Jamaica right?”

On his 70th birthday, TIME presents 70 iconic images (and one for good luck!) of the boxing legend and Civil Rights activist, as athletes, celebrities and photographers recall their favorite memories of The Greatest. See more here.
The WORLD lost a King yesterday; Ase JaJah! mentor to many, inspiration to everyone!
I didn’t know he died. :-(
The first memory that leapt to mind was seeing him playing his drums & other instruments outside Woolworth (yes, I *am* that old) on Frederick Street when I was still in secondary school. It was a Friday afternoon, after school had ended for the weekend.
His eyes were closed and he had a big smile on his face as he played. His voice was strong… loud.
I can’t remember much else of the occasion, but I think Brother Resistance there too, performing as Jajah drummed.
Rest in Peace.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
